Sign-up happens online, at Square, in under ten minutes. Through our reseller link you are automatically attached to Rive: we receive the opening notice and take over the configuration.
Have on hand
- Legal name, trade name and business number (NEQ or federal business number)
- Business address and mailing address
- Owner's details (date of birth; ID if needed)
- Banking details for deposits (transit, institution and account numbers)
- An estimate of your monthly card sales and average ticket
The four steps

You land on Square Canada's official sign-up form, already attached to Rive. Rates are Square's public rates.
Enter your business details
Legal name and trade name, business number (NEQ or federal BN), address, type of activity, estimated volume. About five minutes.
Verify identity and bank account
Square verifies the owner's identity (date of birth, ID if needed) and asks for the bank account that will receive deposits (a void cheque or your banking details is enough).
Choose your hardware, we configure
Order hardware in the Square shop (or with us) and schedule the configuration: catalogue, taxes, tips, staff, switch day.
After sign-up
- You can invoice and take online payments immediately
- Hardware ships within a few business days
- We contact you for configuration and training
- Deposits arrive as soon as the next business day after each sales day

Frequently asked questions
Does sign-up cost anything?
No. Opening a Square account is free with no commitment. You only pay processing fees and the hardware you choose.
What does the reseller link change for me?
Nothing on your fees. It attaches your account to Rive, which lets us support you (setup, training, custom pricing for volume), and Square pays us.
I'm already a Square customer. Can you help?
Write to us: we can review your configuration and, depending on your volume, request custom pricing. Formal account attribution is only possible at opening, however.
How long before I can take payments?
Sign-up takes minutes and verification is usually quick. You can send invoices and accept online payments as soon as you are approved; in-person payments start when the hardware arrives.
